Global Horizons: Bank of Tokyo’s office headquarters in Milan

The distinctive approach to the Bank of Tokyo project harmoniously unites the company’s distinctive personality and the intrinsic history of the building that houses it. We conceived the office as glass spaces, bathed in natural light and marked by broad openings, to bestow a sense of openness and an international character. From every angle of the Bank of Tokyo offices, the gaze looks beyond Italy’s horizons and toward the Japanese motherland, referenced in these spaces thanks to elegant, lightweight and reserved details, just as Japanese traditions teach us.

Bank of Tokyo, an office project with Japanese refinement and Italian design

The project is imbued with details that reflect Japanese culture and refinement, with particular focus to the tradition of origami, reinterpreted here with a contemporary slant. A red line that weaves throughout the entire space and pays tribute to the master craftsmanship of Japan. An emblematic choice for a project that merges the personality of an international Japanese company with the elegance that’s a hallmark of Italian design by way of caring for people and respecting rhythms and flows, creating an environment where functionality and aesthetics meet harmoniously.

Security and prestige: two sides of the same coin

We have chosen to locate Bank of Tokyo’s offices inside a building renowned for its high standards of security, to offer an environment where confidentiality and data and information protection are fundamental priorities. The fact that the building is already recognized for its strict security protocols helps consolidate trust and confidence for everyone who chooses to establish a presence there, specifically Bank of Tokyo’s offices. This strategic choice reflects our commitment in providing a reliable and secure professional environment.

Integrated security: designing spaces for a protected work environment

To further boost the security angle, we delved into designing security systems and access controls, shaping an extremely secure workspace. Through an approach focusing on home automation and on “safe technology,” we have integrated several degrees of protection into space planning, differentiating them by area. From bulletproof areas to spaces for free conversation, each environment has been studied to ensure an appropriate degree of security by implementing an innovative integrated management system for IT facilities.

Technological Aesthetics: Bank of Tokyo between functionality and elegance at the Gio Ponti Building

A consideration for aesthetics has been essential to create an office profile that perfectly integrates with this prestigious building and surrounding area. The headquarters, located in the renowned Turati area in Milan, is housed inside one of the buildings designed by Gio Ponti, an icon of Italian design and art. This choice has brought to life a perfect alliance between the contemporary performance of technological facilities and the enchanting architectural history that marks this unique city neighbourhood.

Between the folds of tradition and creativity: an origami-inspired project

The aesthetic of Bank of Tokyo is configured as an ode to the company’s Japanese identity. The exaltation of brand identity through interior design was inspired by the tradition-rich art of origami. An ancient manual paper-folding technique, which leans into philosophy and design, and represents the company’s deep origins and its expertise in managing a space just as one would do with a blank page: with creativity and decisiveness. Imagining and orchestrating the use of each area with the same expertise with which one would shape the folds of a blank page, the project becomes a visual interpretation of the company’s ability in joining tradition and innovation, philosophy and design, into a unique symphony of space and identity.
